F I N A L
Digital Art Final
For this Final you will be creating a website portfolio of your work. The purpose of this website is to create an online space that represents your visual vocabulary and showcases your skills as a artist. The website will be linked to our class blog, and you will make and print QR codes so your site will be easy to find on mobile devices as well.
Upon completion of the site you will need to have a conference/ critique with me to review your work.
The website will include:
An artist statement (approximately 150 words)
A splash page ( designed graphic that represents your visual style and has your name or the name of your site)
10 digital art pieces (minimum)
For the Final you can use either Google Sites or Wix.com If you wish to use different website creation software it must be pre-approved.

Writing an ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Writing an artist’s statement helps you define your art for yourself and for others.
You may or may not have thought much about this before. This class has given
you an opportunity to “be” an artist for a semester – what is the result? What have
you created and why? What Kind of Art did you take? How does this impact you as a person? You will write a 1 – 3 paragraph artist’s statement to clarify and explain your art.
It should cover basic information such as:
Why do you like to make Art?
What subjects do you prefer? Why?
What devices and techniques do you use? Why?
What kind of post production do you prefer? Why?
Who or what inspires you?
How is your work different from others?
What does your artwork mean to you?
What are your goals and aspirations as an artist?
Start with the “Why?”Why did you choose your particular subject matter or imagery?
You can mention influences (artistic or otherwise), inspirations, and past experiences that
led you to your subject. Some artists often refer to the work of other artists that inspired
them. Others might be influenced by media or popular culture. Still others might have
been traumatized by clowns… It doesn’t really matter how you came to your subject
matter, but the viewer will be interested in knowing why you chose it.
Then talk about the “How?”Most viewers will want to know something about your
materials or your process, especially if the materials or processes are unusual. You might
mention that you use Android Phones and that you were drawn to them for their unpredictable
nature and their easy adoptability. Or you could briefly describe the process used to create
a black and white print and what made you love it.
Why do I have to write an artist statement? It's stupid. If I wanted to write to express myself I would have taken a writing class. The whole idea of art is to say things visually.
Sorry but photography is about context and your ability to create a context for people to view your work in is very important. For this statement I Want you to consider who you are and what makes your photographs unique. I want you to think about what and how you like to make photographs and why.
